Katherine Wagner spent her time in law school getting hands-on experience as a student attorney and working in-chambers assisting Minnesota Supreme Court Associate Justices, a Minnesota Federal District Court Judge, and the former Chief Judge of Minnesota’s Third Judicial District.

Her colleagues credit her for being easy to talk to, adaptable, and knowing how to read a room.

Education & Background

Prior to attending law school, Katherine served five years in the U.S. Navy as an H-60R helicopter mechanic. She deployed twice aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier between 2010 and 2012. She was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for her work making crashed aircraft safe-for-flight.

Katherine received her J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2021. She is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage and holds a B.A. in Political Science.

In law school, Katherine was selected for multiple competitive clerkships. The Minnesota Justice Foundation selected Katherine for a clerkship with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. In this clerkship, she assisted low-income clients with state and federal housing issues. A Federal District Court Judge then selected Katherine for a judicial intern clerkship. Thereafter, the Minnesota Supreme Court selected Katherine for a semester long full-time residency. In this residency, Katherine assisted two Associate Justices of the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Upon graduating law school, Katherine was hired by the former Chief Judge of Minnesota’s Third Judicial District. She provided additional assistance to judges in Mower, Steele, Waseca, and Olmstead counties. As a judicial law clerk, Katherine worked on cases involving civil, criminal, juvenile, family, child protection, guardianship, conservatorship, and probate issues. Katherine conduced conciliation (small claims) settlement conferences for Dodge and Mower counties. She also participated in Dodge County’s drug and alcohol dependency treatment court.
